Another idea for the 5th Hour theme for this Friday, February 13th are songs that are ideal for President's Day. Since that's another upcoming holiday just right around the corner.

Here are my suggested songs for the President's Day Theme:

The following are from various groups/performers -

- Hail To The Chief.

- The Star Spangled Banner (Various, but also including the US Air Force Band, as well as any talented musicians that were known to previously nail singing it well at any events where the anthem is typically sung, such as sporting events & such. Perhaps Whitney Houston’s rendition from the 1991 Super Bowl game if you have the recording of that).

- America The Beautiful (Including from artists such as Charlie Rich, Ray Charles, & more)

- You’re A Grand Old Flag.

- God Bless America.

1950s-60s Folk & Protest (Civil Rights & Social Change) -

- “If I Had A Hammer” - Peter, Paul, & Mary (1962)
- “We Shall Overcome” - (The Civil Rights Anthem)
- “Blowing in The Wind” - Bob Dylan (1963)
- “Eve Of Destruction” - Barry McGuire (1965); Also the version by the Turtles from the same year.

1970s-1980s Rock & Reflective Pop -

- “Born In The USA” by Bruce Springsteen (1984)
- “Land Of Confusion” by Genesis (1986)
- “Take Me Home Country Roads” by John Denver (1971)
- “Ride Like The Wind” by Christopher Cross (1980)

Presidential/Political References:

- George Washington Bicentral

Other:

- “America” by Neil Diamond (1981)
- “Living In America” by James Brown (1985)
- “God Bless The USA” by Lee Greenwood (1984)
- “This Land Is Your Land” by Woody Guthrie (1960s)
- “Philadelphia Freedom” by Elton John (1976)
- “American Made” by the Oak Ride Boys (1983)
- “We Shall Overcome” (1960s) – Anthem of the Civil Rights Movement
- “Living In The USA” by the Steve Miller Band (1968)
- “The Times They Are’ A Changing” by Bob Dylan (1964)
- “Red, White, & Blue” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
- “We’re An American Band” by Grandfunk Railroad
- “Ragged Old Flag” by Johnny Cash (1974)

I might have more ideas for songs to fit this & all the other themes I’ve jumped in on suggesting if I find more from any more deeper researches between now & tomorrow (the day of the show), or if any more songs for any one of these themes suddenly pop up in mind. Feel free to list your suggestions for any songs you might have in mind for this or the other themes I’ve suggested in response down below.
