The Byrds ran into the same trouble! They recorded the original versions of their single "Eight Miles High/"Why?" in (ironically) RCA studios, but they were rejected because they were on Columbia. It might be interesting to hear one of both later, if you can find them. They were eventually released on the expanded "Fifth Dimension" CD.
