I believe that Desi, Dino and Billy opened for the Beach Boys. They wanted him to replace Bruce Johnston, but he decided to go to college. He did later join the touring band and was with them for many years. They would let him sing lead on "Sail On Sailor" and "I'm Waiting for the Day". His sister married Carl Wilson!
