It's very to sad that the one & only talented David Clayton-Thomas of the iconic group Blood, Sweat, & Tears has died recently. David was mega talented & has shaped the world from his sound with his group for generation s. He was at the age of 84 when he passed.
I also want to remind everyone that just yesterday marked exactly 17 years since one of the kings of Pop, Michael Jackson had died on the other hand. It's still very hard to believe that it was also the very last day of the 5th grade for me & it was 12:30 early dismissal for us on that exact day in 2009.
Just one thing to note with that in mind about Michael Jackson's passing is that I could still swear I recall hearing some people in my school that day either talking about his passing or his final moments of his life that day before we were all dismissed for the summer that year. So I was in that case already somewhat aware of MJ's situation from all of those talks, even though they turn out as a blur to me by this point.
It was not until we were officially dismissed & done with school for the summer that year when my dad picked me up at around 12:30 PM that day when the news of Michael's passing was confirmed on one of our local stations we were tuned into on our radio during the car ride home. It was either some point around that exact time that day we were dismissed or some point earlier on prior to 12:30 PM that day when he had passed. Hence the talks I still even only slightly remember earlier on in school about it that I either overheard or were in fact directly a part of, depending on who was informing us, where, & when on that day.
I just thought I can share the significant memory I still have with my situation with where I was & what I was doing that day when I heard the news about MJ's passing. With David Clayton Thomas' passing on the other hand, I was only informed about earlier yesterday when it made headlines then all throughout social media, and notifications I've received from smart device apps of various news outlets that recently published articles confirming David's death.
With all of this in mind, will there be a tribute tonight for both David Clayton Thomas & Michael Jackson in the wake of both of their passings, the memory of them both, & the legacy they've both formed of their own?
