One thing about my discovery of the song “The Peppermint Twist” by Joey Dee and the Starlighters, fun fact, one of the first times I heard that song again after so long was at some Italian restaurant that my family and I went to somewhere in New York with my grandmother from the Bronx over a decade ago while I was still in high school. The first time I heard the song on the radio however was over another decade earlier in the early 2000s. Maybe on WCBS-FM. And I found out that that was the song where they made the parody of for this animatronic Easter bunny that my family and I used to have and would have out alongside our other indoor Easter home decorations for Easter every year and everytime I would press the “try me” button on the palm of the bunny’s hand, it’s voice box would go off and the bunny would play/sing the recording with his cool looking orange guitar to an Easter themed parody of the Peppermint Twist. It was called the “Hippity Hop Twist”. I wish I still had that bunny by the way. Although I think I still have it buried somewhere, but its voicebox died years ago so it can’t play the song anymore. And I don’t think there is a way to repair the voicebox by replacing its batteries or anything like that as far as I understand or what I remember. But it was a cool toy that played such a cool sounding parody of a classic oldies tune !!!
