Following up with Steven Green’s suggestions for fourth hour themes today, I too say to either go with a fourth hour theme focusing on songs about a woman, or songs with a girl/woman’s name in the title as the alternate theme in honor of celebrating International Women’s Month. I have some ideas for songs for both themes.
If we go with the theme for songs generally about a woman that has “Woman” in the title, here are some ideas for songs I thought of:
- “She’s A Woman” by the Beatles
- “Sweet City Woman” by the Stampeders
- “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got” by the Four Tops
- “Sweet Talking Woman” by Electric Light Orchestra
- “American Woman” by the Guess Who
- “She’s A Lady” by Tom Jones
- “I Am A Woman” by Helen Reddy
If we go with the theme that focuses on songs with a person’s name into title (and most particularly a girl/woman’s name), then I was thinking of these ideas:
- “Angie” by The Rolling Stones
- “Mandy” by Barry Manilow
- “Walk Away Renee” by the Left Banke
- “Brandy, You’re a Fine Girl” by the Looking Glass
- “Lola” by the Kinks
- “867-5309/Jenny” by Timmy Tutone
- “Jenny Take A Ride” by Mitch Ryder
- “Peggy Sue” by Buddy Holly
- “Cathy’s Clown” by the Everly Brothers
- “Sherry” by the 4 Seasons
- “Bernadette” by the 4 Tops
- “Diana” by Paul Anka
Both ideas for songs can be blended all together into one for today’s theme as well.
