So what inspired me to make that song my instant request for tonight was the fact that I heard it played earlier today on my local classic rock station, Q104.3, at the start of the 3 PM hour that they do during that time every weekday, and play 3 songs in a row to kickstart the hour that all relate to a significant current event. And any listener that calls in to guess what current event that all three songs relate to that luckily gets their call answered and guesses it correctly ends up winning tickets to whatever upcoming event including any upcoming show they would typically give tickets away during such blocks. Gerry Martire, who's in charge of the afternoon drive on Friday nights would always kick start his show with the 3 at 3 block at the beginning of the 3 PM hour and ended up giving away tickets to some woman who called in and guessed correctly what all three song he played for today's 3 at 3 block relate to, with "Centerfield" by John Fogerty being one of them. And it was the fact that we officially have our first woman umpire in the MLB. We're continuing to make significant history here, that's for sure. With the other 2 songs being "Feels Like The First Time" by Foreigner (Which Bob also played here a just a while ago too), and also "Jersey Girl" by Bruce Springsteen.
Also, another thing that inspired my request for this tune is the fact that tomorrow, my family and I will be going to Yankee stadium for a Yankee game, and there will be a pre-game ceremony, with all the former Yankees team members from 2000, celebrating the 25th anniversary of when they made the team beat the Mets in the World Series championship game during that year.
Just as a couple of major things I found to be inspiring for my request to this song.
