I assume you're using the cable co's router?
You're at their mercy. :(
Here we have 1G bidirectional fiber service.
It's SOLID!
Not a hint of a problem since its installation on June 17, 2023.
They supplied the fiber termination. I connected it to MY router, Netgear R6250 router. It has 4 1G ports and 4 WI-FI channels.

Previously we had internet via the local cable (dis)service.
Originally we used their router but it put us at their mercy.
I later put their box in "bridge mode" and installed the above mentioned Netgear unit.
That solved all our router issues.
But it was still a cable internet connection. Reasonable download speed but s-l-o-w uploads. They also the blocked ports necessary for a website. The workaround made it a bit clunky.

Switching to fiber was a breeze. I just connected my already configured router to their unit and we were up and running! Only a minor DNS server issue had to be dealt with on a couple static IP computers.
Our upload speed is now way more than needed for all the 60s70s Show connections!

All the configurations of my router are saved in a settings file.
I could hit the reset button or install a whole new compatible router, click "load settings" and we're back in full operation!

Good luck with your setup.

See you Friday!
